3. What Christmas (or Hanukkah) present do you remember the most?

It was our first Christmas together. We both had low paying jobs, and were really struggling financially. We spent Christmas Eve at my studio apartment, so that we could wake up together on Christmas Day. We shared my twin bed for the night, and sat on it to exchange our gifts on Christmas morning. One of us was a big fan of a recently released song, and the other had freshly pierced ears. I gave a CD (Chumbawamba’s Tubthumping), and received a card of earrings from Clair’s Boutique with several pair of studs on it. In total, we probably spent less than $20 or $25. There have been many wonderful holidays since, and much more expensive gifts, but there was so much joy in those first small gifts that meant so much.
